Solar Filter Film Sheets (DIY)

Hyperion ND5 solar filter film sheets are DIY material for building custom front-mounted solar filters for telescopes, camera lenses, binoculars and spotting scopes. This is cut-to-fit film—not a finished slip-on or threaded filter.

Select your sheet size and single-sheet, 5-pack or 10-pack option on the Hyperion solar film product page. Choose enough material for your filter design, including secure attachment in its holder. For binocular projects, both objective lenses must be filtered.

For optical equipment, secure the film over the front, sun-facing aperture before pointing at the Sun. Inspect it before every use and do not use damaged film. Read our film handling and safe-use guidance and Materials & Optics guide, and follow the product-specific instructions.
